Museum of History & Industry

Historic Museum Experience in Seattle

Housed in the historic Naval Reserve Armory Building, right at the southern tip of Lake Union, the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) is the largest private heritage organization in Washington state. With nearly four million artifacts, photographs and archival materials to take in and appreciate, expect your visit to take about two hours.

Mainly focused on Seattle and the greater Puget Sound region, crowd-pleasing exhibits include Boeing’s first commercial plane, the Petticoat Flag dating back to 1856 and a 12-foot neon “R” from the Rainier Brewing Company. Along with temporary exhibits, the permanent True Northwest: The Seattle Journey covers the city’s history from Native American culture to evolution into a major global hub.
